Golden Eye reinterprets the function of ritual, taking inspiration from the Japanese technique of kintsugi (based on the art of repairing cracks or fractures in ceramics with gold). By repairing the damage of physical scars with gold, consequence of a car accident that left me with permanent double vision, this video performance proposes an alternative practice for spiritual guidance.

“Kintsugi” decorates and sutures the wounds of the person’s grief, reinforcing and healing them. It is a healing process that, by not erasing the marks of the wound, leaves traces that allow us to identify the grief through the scars already embellished by the golden patina of the image-making process. The spiritual practice called "mono no aware" (also translated as "a sensitivity to ephemera"), repairing the breaks, dents, and damage to objects and ceramics instead of discarding them produces a transference that draws attention to the vicissitudes of human existence over time.
